Glossary

Many university-specific and administrative terms are highly specialised and often cannot be found in standard dictionaries or translation tools. To assist staff at Reutlingen University with translating such terms and to promote consistency in language use, this glossary has been developed. The university has adopted British English as its standard.

The glossary is a living document and is continuously expanded by the Institute for Foreign Languages. It is not intended to be exhaustive.

To help us keep the glossary as up to date as possible, we welcome your suggestions and feedback. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at: iff@reutlingen-university.de

Definition:

Bachelor / Master

In allen Zusammensetzungen (Bachelor-Abschluss, Master-Studiengang etc.) gibt es viele Varianten. A) Die HSRT adoptiert den Gebrauch in der Berlin Conference Bologna (http://www.bologna-berlin2003.de/) und zwar konsequent mit Apostroph + s, also: Bachelor's degree, Master's programme usw.  B) Ausnahme: bei Angabe der genauen Bezeichnung z.B. „...leads to the award of a Bachelor of Arts / Science / Engineering“ d.h. ohne Apostroph und ohne –s.
